The Team
The gymnastics-software team consists of three members: Tom Van Hauwaert is the
software developer, his girlfriend Lieve Van den Brandt is the website
developer and then there is our daughter Louise. What are our backgrounds?
Tom was born in 1973 in a small town called Kalmthout, 20 km north of Antwerp,
Belgium. He graduaded as industrial engineer in electronics and specialized in
computer systems. He has always been a software developer ever since - most of
the time automating factories.
In 2004 the local gymnastics club moved to a private hall. As director of this
club, Tom was responsible for generating enough income to pay the rent.
This made him decide to quit his job, and focus on organising gymnastics camps.
In the mean time, he started figuring out how the WAG symbols could be used on
a computer.
Gymnastics has always been a hobby, and it still is. In January 2006, he earned
his international judge license. So Tom is one of those 5 men in the world with
a WAG judging license.
Lieve Van den Brandt
Lieve was born in 1980 in a small city called Turnhout, Belgium She graduated
as computer developer, and went to England to finish her training. Since then
however she has been working as an accountant for a huge company located in
Antwerp.
Lieve was an international gymnast, and participated at the European
Championships in Burmingham (1996). After her active career as gymnast, she
began coaching and judging at her club in Turnhout, but moved to Kalmthout to
coach there after she and Tom met at the World Championships in Ghent in 2001.
During her stay in England, she coached at South-Durham Gymnastics.
Lieve has an international judging license since 1999. Since 2006 she is a
category III judge.
Louise was born late 2005 in a small town called Kalmthout, Belgium. Her major
contribution to the team is making sure that the development process remains
slow. We are trying to move her to another department.
Although Louise attended the international judging course begin 2006, we doubt
she remembers anything of it.
